Browser and System Requirements
Hotelmedia News is a web-based cloud solution and works on the WYSIWYG principle.
This means that everything you see and create in the preview appears (almost) the same in the PDF. Small differences in text length cannot be avoided for technical reasons.
To make sure the app works properly, please use the current version of Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge or Safari as your browser.
Important: To get the most accurate article preview of the PDF you are creating, set the browser zoom to 100 % (shortcut Ctrl + 0, on a Mac cmd + 0).
First Login – Setting Up Your Account
As soon as you have completed the registration, your account is prepared. This only takes a moment, and then you can get started right away.
IMPORTANT – Additional content such as ready-made articles, images and our kids’ newspaper is only unlocked once your registration has been reviewed. This is usually done within a short time.
Planning the Layout
TIP: Print out the newspaper’s layout template and think about how you want to structure your hotel newspaper and where each piece of information should go.
After logging in, you will find various templates in the “Paper” section under “Saved papers”, which give you a first overview of what is possible.

Take a look at our customers’ sample editions. They give you an impression of the possibilities and good ideas for what your new hotel newspaper should look like.
Which topics should go on which page? (e.g. the most important daily information on the first page, sports programme and wellness information on page 2, a preview of the next day on page 3, etc.)
Which information recurs daily? (e.g. welcome, menu, spa appointments, weather, etc.)
Which information recurs weekly or every two weeks? (e.g. excursion tips, sports programme, local events, menu, etc.)
Plan your recurring articles so that the recurrence cycles do not overlap!
Example: In the Monday edition, you create an article with the recurrence “Custom”, every 7 days (weekly). In future editions, no article with “every 1 days” (daily) can then be placed in the same position – the two articles would overlap on the following Monday. Hotelmedia News shows you a message and then saves the article without recurrence.
Exception: a monthly or yearly recurrence takes priority and overrides other recurrences. Find out more in the quick guide Using Article Recurrence.
